That was mostly an issue of finding a rule set that I liked. I liked For King and Parliament well enough to buy more ECW figures this year! :-)Gonsalvohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16531623280789478092noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2759788396515762996.post-26053691548603636062018-09-27T14:05:16.162+01:002018-09-27T14:05:16.162+01:00Hi Chris, Great to hear from you, your comment wa...Hi Chris, Great to hear from you, your comment was no where near as long as my essay which I think has scared people off from reading it! :-) It's interesting how we re-appraise and change our ideas over time - I'm glad to hear that you found a way to love painting Napoleonic troops too.
Best wishes,
JasonJasonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03440418250366404723noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2759788396515762996.post-71852469301364670152018-09-27T01:49:42.300+01:002018-09-27T01:49:42.300+01:00Howdy,

I bought great quantities of 25mm Minifig Napoleonics in the early 1970's, as they were the gold standard back then. I never enjoyed painting them, though, so I never did much with them. I tried selling them at a big convention a few years ago for $.25 each (about 15 pence to you folks) and did not sell a single one! I then sold my British/Brunswick/Dutch figures via ebay, but no one bid on the French, so I still have them, along with a painted Russian army that a friend gave to me, as he didn't like them much, either.

Recently I had back surgery and was laid up for about 6 weeks. For some reason I got the urge to paint Napoleonics, but I went for plastics (HAT, Esci, etc.). My painting mojo kicked in, and I wound up finishing about 300 figures during the 6 weeks, which is WAY above my usual dilatory productivity! This was due to the units being small (16 infantry or 12 cavalry each, fewer for light troops), and more importantly, my decision not to worry much about anything not visible from a meter away. The figures painted up very quickly, so I saw my armies grow, which spurred me on.

Sorry for this being so long. Best regards,

Chris JohnsonChrishttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05091296131481416326noreply@blogger.com
